Andrea Bocelli, a Tuscany native, was born to a family of winemakers.  He studied various musical instruments as a child, but opted to initially study law and become a defense lawyer instead of a musician.

Mr. Bocelli was finally "discovered" as a singer in 1992. Visually impaired from birth, Andrea was gifted with an enormous talent for touching the emotional core of a musical piece.   His various albums, released since 1993, continue to sell in the millions of copies.

Mr. Bocelli was originally asked to perform on a demo tape for submission to Luciano Pavarotti, with Andrea singing the part which Pavarotti would eventually perform.  Upon hearing the tape, Mr. Pavarotti was extremely impressed with the "unknown" Bocelli's voice, and insisted that Bocelli himself perform the role.

Today, Pavarotti and Bocelli perform together as friends.
