"Relax, shut your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply. Quiet your whole body."

Ellen Curran, Guided Imagery, Part 4

Here is Allison’s Blue Whales imagery.

(Remember to always do some sort of relaxation prior to doing imagery.)

The Blue Whales

Relax, shut your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply. Quiet your whole body. Imagine the feeling of the flow of warm, blue-green seawater sweeping through your body. It feels like the whole world’s oceans are within you, washing through you and calming you with every wave. Suddenly, you feel a tickling in your veins and you wonder, "What is that?" It comes again and again, and it feels good, so good that you start to giggle. Then deep inside you the answer comes. . . . "It is us, the Blue Whales." A million little whale voices answer you all at once. They actually sing their answer, and it sounds so beautiful and full of love. Your body is now their ocean, and they are playing and swimming in it. Imagine their shiny, blue brilliance and happy smiles. They are dazzling and magnificent. Even though they are tiny, they fill your body with their special healing power. They are here, in your body, to help you and make you feel well. Their power is becoming your power, and it is big, blue, and bold.

They have come to conquer the Frownies. The Frownies have been hard at work making mischief inside your body. They are the mean guys that live inside of you in small, round houses called cells. They love making you feel bad. The Frownies are not beautiful like your whales. They are dark, yucky gray, with big frowns on their faces. They want you to stay sick, or in pain, and to feel afraid. The Frownies do not like it when the Blue Whales come, because they know the Blue Whales can help you and make you feel well.

Now your Blue Whales will go after the Frownies with all their might and energy, and they will gobble up every one that they find. The Frownies run and hide when they see the Blue Whales, because the Frownies are cowards. But hiding does not help -- because the Blue Whales are so smart and fast that they catch the Frownies every time. The Blue Whales get big and fat and happy from eating all the Frownies. The Frownies may be mean and ugly to you, but they taste delicious to the Blue Whales.

You can feel them singing as they remove all the Frownies from your body. The Blue Whales shimmer throughout your body and are making you happy and strong again. You feel better, lighter, happier and there is no more pain. The Blue Whales are your heroes. They love you with all their hearts and will always get rid of the Frownies for you . . . any time . . . any place.

Recall: Whenever the Frownies begin their mischief you can always call on your magical friends the Blue Whales. Just shut your eyes, relax your body, and take slow, deep breaths. Now, blow a small secret whistle inside your body. Only you and the Blue Whales can hear it. When they hear your special whistle, the Blue Whales burst out of their hiding places in your body, where they have been sleeping in case you need them. They go right to work for you, chasing and eating the Frownies. They can help you get rid of your pain, your sickness, and any sadness you are feeling. Remember they are your special friends. Blow your whistle and let them come.
