Henry David Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau was born in 1817, in Concord, Massachusetts.
Having developed a keen interest in nature, he attended Concord Academy
and Harvard college before becoming acquainted with Ralph Waldo Emerson,
known as the "father of transcendentalism." Walden Walden (review or buy) is known as one of the greatest philosophical meditations in American literature. Written during a stay in a log cabin near Walden Pond, Walden was first published on August 9, 1854. The book expresses a fervent passion for living life simply, immediately, and free of restricting conventions and habits. |
