James Allen

James Allen was an Englishman who retired from the business world to pursue a lifestyle of writing and contemplation. His books, including the now-famous As a Man Thinketh (review or buy), are classics in the fields of inspiration and spirituality.

"This little volume," he wrote in the introduction to As a Man Thinketh, "is not intended as an exhaustive study on the much-written-upon subject of the power of thought. It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that they themselves are makers of themselves by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage."

Although best known for As a Man Thinketh, James Allen authored several other books which also deal with the power of thought. (Please note: the "buy the book" links are links to the original texts, not the SpiritSite.com adaptations.)
