"Even though I have never had an abrupt conversion experience, religion has been real to me and closely knitted to life. In fact the two cannot be separated; religion for me is life." - MLK, Jr. Martin Luther King, Jr., minister, spiritual leader, and social reformer was born in 1929. Having tirelessly served the cause of equality in the United States, Dr. King's efforts came to a crescendo in 1963, when he addressed 250,000 civil-rights supporters at the March on Washington, in Washington, D.C. At the Lincoln Memorial, King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech, one of our nation's most famous speeches. The following year, in 1964, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I Have a Dream Although Dr. King delivered dozens of remarkable and passionate speeches, his "I Have a Dream" speech remains as his most well-known and appreciated.
