Spiritual Retreat Centers

What is a spiritual retreat? Generally speaking, it is a time that is spent apart from the ordinary workings of society – a time of rest and reflection. Even a busy parent or executive needs a period to relax and return to an awareness of the spiritual life.

In the following directory we have been able to list only a small percentage of the many spiritual retreat centers in the United States. However, we have tried to cover a diversity of some of the oldest and most popular sites. These include Zen centers, Christian abbeys, Yogic ashrams, ecumenical communities, desert ranches, and more.

Whether you choose to walk nature trails, find a spot near the lake, sleep, browse the library or join community prayer, you open yourself to the inner journey. For those seeking a more solitary experience, we offer private hermitages. These small houses include a kitchenette, sitting area, bath and an outdoor deck overlooking the wooded landscape. Whether working on a personal project or seeking a deeper connection with God, a hermitage surrounds you in a silence and deep calm that encourages renewal."

"For over 16 years we've offered our guests the highest quality workshop and retreat experiences. Our programs are designed to help people gain the skills and inspiration to live meaningful, engaged lives in today's complex world. The Retreat Centre encompasses 48 acres of beach, orchard, garden, and forest land. Trails weave through the grounds, and the sandy beach invites you to the ocean. Buildings, carefully sited to blend with the landscape, include the lodge with its sweeping views of Georgia Strait and the Coastal Range, a hand-crafted healing arts studio tucked in the woods, circular meeting spaces designed according to the principles of sacred architecture, and an Orchard Sanctuary built with all natural materials."
